A client in the technical building services arena needed to strengthen their ability to promote key and core skills within Modern Apprenticeships. The project involved desk and computer supported research on the most up-to-date sources and working with employers, colleges and training organisations to identify current best practice.
The Pye Tait staff were able to draw on recent practical experience as well as the research findings to identify the reasons for developing key and core skills, the barriers to their development and the models that already existed. The culmination of the project was the development of two powerful but simple models. The first was for the development of key skills in England and Wales; the second for the development of core skills in Scotland.
