The LSC in Yorkshire and the Humber
Employer Engagement with Disadvantaged Groups

About The Project

Pye Tait Ltd are an independent research consultancy, and we were commissioned by LSC Yorkshire and the Humber to undertake a survey, funded by ESF, of SMEs across West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and Humberside. This survey was aimed at finding out what guidance SMEs need to help them develop and work effectively with equality and diversity policies.

The project aims were to:

  • Identify the barriers SMEs face in engaging with disadvantaged groups
  • Highlight the problems SMEs encounter in developing equality and diversity strategies
  • Examine the support and guidance already available to employers
  • Explore the perceived link among SMEs' between business performance and equality and diversity policy
  • Provide good practice case studies for implementing equality and diversity policy
  • Produce an employers handbook giving guidance about developing equality and diversity policy

To see how these objectives will be met, take a look at Our Approach.

There are already a lot of useful handbooks and toolkits available to employers looking to learn more about equality and diversity.

We are looking to bring everything together into one place, providing information to employers in a clear, simple and easy to use format. We don't want to repeat what’s already out there. However, we do need to find out what works for employers.

If you know of any equality and diversity resources, then please let us know what they are, and tell us why they are useful. To Have Your Say, follow the link and fill in the feedback form provided.
