Two clients are currently using Pye Tait for detailed work on the new apprenticeship frameworks; one project is seeing the development of innovative new ways of structuring apprenticeships, while the other is talking an overview of the whole system across the UK.
Apprenticeships are popular with both employees and employers. Government figures show that, in some sectors, there is a considerable excess of demand for such programmes over the supply.
At a time when more and more young graduates are struggling to find work after taking academic degrees, more needs to be done to promote apprenticeships to school leavers. Apprenticeships with the best companies were once highly coveted. They were seen as a passport to job security and good wages for a lifetime. It may be that the new apprenticeships will now begin to reclaim that cachet for new generations of technicians and skilled staff.
