Employer Engagement with Disadvantaged Groups

‘To combat discrimination in the labour market, in particular to combat race, disability and age discrimination and improve the employability of these groups’
- European Social Fund Regional Objective 3, Measure 2.2

Pye Tait has recently been commissioned by a local Learning and Skills Council (LSC) to undertake a survey of over 1,000 small to medium enterprises (SMEs) across West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and Humberside. Supporting Measure 2.2 above, this ESF-funded survey will determine the support employers require when engaging with disadvantaged groups and developing their equality and diversity policies.

Focussing on people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, ethnic minorities, women and older workers, the project aims to identify any barriers faced by employers in implementing equality and diversity policies, and to highlight relevant areas of good practice that can be shared among employers.

The fieldwork will also include site visits to employers and direct consultation with key national and local organisations representing SMEs, disadvantaged groups, and those who focus on regional regeneration and development.
