Young people tend to be much more IT literate than their older colleagues and they are, therefore, much more likely to use on-line resources when trying to underpin or update their knowledge and skills.
Pye Tait was commissioned by a training body in Scotland to create, from scratch, detailed on-line learning material to support an apprenticeship programme. In around three months we created around 1,500 web pages of newly written technical support text and populated it with over 1,000 newly drawn diagrams. The material was structured for the learner and programmed into a web-friendly format.
This was the first stage of an ongoing programme to support thousands of young learners in the way they relate to best – on-line, flexible, self-managed learning. The material was developed specifically for dissemination through LearnDirect Scotland, whose servers now offer the initial phases of this learner support material to all relevant education and training providers in Scotland.
