Smart Meeting

Research Executive

At the graduate end of the scale, Pye Tait occasionally takes on relatively inexperienced graduates and post-graduate students. They are always exceptional candidates with the potential to learn fast and develop the unique mix of skills that makes an effective research consultant - a quick and intelligent mind, genuine people skills, a convincing and engaging presentational presence, a good deal of physical energy, accurate and effective writing skills, and an unquenchable thirst for new knowledge and skills.

We look for at least an excellent first degree and possibly a relevant Masters degree. Candidates should be able to show a good research track record in either the academic sphere, or, ideally, in a commercial environment.

On entry, Research Executives are expected to be able to undertake basic research and writing tasks and to spend up to two years developing subject knowledge, writing skills, and competence in research methods (including questionnaire design and analysis, data sources, interpretation, and project design). They are also expected to begin, gradually, to construct and write tenders for new work, and to manage parts of projects.

Most of this period will be spent working to, and for, senior staff and helping to support ongoing projects.

Only when the researcher can demonstrate genuine competence across all of these fields, deep knowledge of education, training and qualifications, and a real aptitude for client-centred work, will they be given their first promotion (usually to Senior Research Executive).

Research Executive starting salaries are competitive and are dependent on experience and qualifications.
