Purpose

To inform a major review of the criteria documentation for GCSE and GCE 'A' Level qualifications – Ofqual is seeking views on the fitness-for-purpose of the criteria documentation. 

This online questionnaire is aimed at the following stakeholders: examiners and senior markers, teaching unions, teachers, subject associations and learned bodies

We specifically seek respondents’ views on the overarching GCSE/’A’ Level qualifications criteria documentation, as well as the expression, effectiveness and usefulness of subject criteria documentation in respect of the following  sample of 10 subjects per level :-

NB: The content of individual qualifications, and indeed other regulatory documentation, is outside the scope of this survey.

Intended Outcomes

The main outcome of this work is to identify good practice and provide evidence of the critical issues that must be addressed to ensure fit for purpose criteria.

Forthcoming Webinars

A series of webinars (online discussion forums) are due to be held in late February to disseminate the findings to date and discuss a range of scenarios/suggested developments. If you are interested we need you to book a place in advance to register your interest in participating in one of these webinars. You can do that at the end of the questionnaire or contact us directly via the email address given below. These webinars will replace a series of planned workshops in order to offer improved flexibility to participants.


Proposed dates and times of the webinars are as follows, each will last a maximum of one hour.
