What makes a great Research Manager?

Essential

Agency-side experience – that is, solid commercial experience in pricing, designing, and delivering research and consultancy projects to a range of clients to tight deadlines and budgets.
Ability to organise, self-manage, and lead others.
Enthusiasm for research and the delivery of great client outputs.
Presence.
Excellent written skills.

Desirable

Membership of the MRS.
Specialism in economics and labour markets.
Statistical skills – e.g. experience of using SPSS/SNAP/R and undertaking multivariate statistical analysis including regression and experimental design

Fundamentally

A mix of relevant experience, intelligence, enthusiasm, knowledge, persuasiveness, energy, resilience, and self-motivation. Good Research Managers deliver great research and impress clients, excellent Research Managers not only do this, but know that client relationships remain at the core of research consultancy and possess a powerful desire to grow their own career within the ongoing growth of Pye Tait Consulting.

These roles are ideally permanent and full time but we would be willing to consider flexible arrangements where there are mutual benefits.

Location: Successful applicants are based at their homes and can therefore be based almost anywhere in the UK. However, they must have easy access to key centres of government and business. Travel, post Covid-19, is an essential part of the job and this sometimes also entails overnight stays.
