Senior Research Managers (remote) (£55k to £65k)

Summary

Pye Tait Consulting is a well-established company with strong values centred on delivering high quality outputs that contribute to social and economic development. We work intelligently and ethically to help deliver a better tomorrow for the UK's young people and workers – towards a fairer and non-discriminatory society, while striving to meet our zero-emissions targets and to help others towards a more sustainable and prosperous future.

Our clients and our work are both extremely varied and incredibly interesting.

Traditionally, our focus is on education, skills, or training. Typical and recent projects include:

  • Training programme or skills fund evaluation
  • Exploring the impacts of Covid-19 on a profession
  • Analysis of a public consultation
  • Consulting on a profession’s training standards
  • Labour market intelligence
  • Feasibility/development of a competency framework
  • Stakeholder satisfaction/engagement research

Senior Research Managers are our most senior and responsible staff. They report to the Directors and manage teams of Research Managers, Senior Research Executives, and Research Executives to produce top-level, publishable research. They bid for and win work, manage a suite of projects, and lead by example. There is nothing that their teams can do that an SRM cannot do as well, if not better.

What does a Senior Research Manager do?

  • Design, implement, and successfully complete research processes – end to end project delivery.
  • Manage and develop great client relationships.
  • Develop and deliver powerful presentations and pitches.
  • Lead on design of all research tools and reports.
  • Write persuasive winning tenders.
  • Deliver impactful and successful pitches.
  • Write and manage the creation of memorable, insightful reports.
  • Develop new business through excellent contacts and networks.
  • Manage small matrix-teams of junior and senior researchers.
  • Support development and execution of the research strategy.
  • Provide support and coaching to the research and support team.

What makes a great Senior Research Manager?

Essential

  • Agency-side experience – that is, solid commercial experience in pricing, designing, and delivering research and consultancy projects to a range of clients to tight deadlines and budgets. Client side or academic research design and management is unlikely to be sufficient.
  • Ability to organise, self-manage, and lead others.
  • Specialist research experience.
  • Enthusiasm for research and delivery of great client outputs.
  • Excellent written skills.
  • Relevant second and/or third degrees (Masters and PhD).

The successful candidates will also be able to bring a range of other relevant and specialist skills and knowledge.

Fundamentally

A mix of relevant experience, intelligence, enthusiasm, knowledge, persuasiveness, energy, resilience, and self-motivation.

Good Senior Research Managers deliver great research reports and impress clients. Client relationships remain at the core of research consultancy, and we will be looking for a powerful desire to grow the candidate's career within the ongoing growth of Pye Tait Consulting.

As the company grows there will be opportunities for progression to Consultant and Associate Director/Director.
