Pye Tait’s educational expertise gives it a major advantage in the research and development of qualifications and standards. Our lengthy association with a wide variety of industries and sectors means that we have an almost unmatched awareness of the qualification needs of industry and commerce.
Pye Tait Consulting has a solid base in a range of standards and qualification work across the UK, including National Occupational Standards, Apprenticeships, Foundation Degrees, Technical Certificates, Diplomas, credit systems and much more.
We have helped employers meet their training needs as well as carried out work on behalf of national regulatory and funding agencies such as the Skills Funding Agency, Higher Education Funding Agency for England (HEFCE) and Awarding Organisations, such as Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) as well as a number of agencies no longer in existence (such as the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency, the National Learning and Skills Council (LSC) as well as local and regional branches of the LSC.
Liaising directly with universities and colleges, research typically involves working closely with tutors, lecturers, employers, employees, individual students/candidates, apprentices and trainees.
Recent work has focused on developing the full range of qualifications products including units, qualifications, Higher Apprenticeship frameworks and product surround (including evidence requirements, assessment guidance, and question banks forming the summative assessment of knowledge qualifications).
Our team is fully trained in conducting credit and levelling and developing Rules of Combination (RoC) for the QCF – we are able to organise and facilitate this process, including participant identification and recruitment, leading credit and levelling workshops, and moderating results. We always adhere to the latest guidance and good practice in such developments. We have also applied this methodology to the SQCF – developing units, qualifications and the supporting product surround.
We are fully conversant with the Regulatory IT System (RITS), having successfully developed and uploaded compliant RoC and QCF units, ultimately resulting in qualifications being regulated on behalf of our clients.
Our expertise in Apprenticeship framework development extends to scoping and development of qualifications; NOS, Functional Skills, Essential Skills Wales, and PLTS mapping; developing background information and rationale; identifying job roles and progression routes; leading Activity Costing – including interviewing, facilitating panels and moderating the results.
